If you know me than you know that I really love a good cup of coffee! To some I may seem to be picky when it comes to my coffee, but the truth is I drink it black and there is no masking the taste of black coffee. Without sugar or milk the coffee stands on its own; it is either good or bad! A well-brewed coffee is great from the first sip to the last and even if it gets cold it is still enjoyable. I guess I am a bit of a connoisseur of coffee and I will drive miles out of my way in search of a good cup of coffee.
Over the years family and friends have wanted to help me in my quest for that great cup of coffee and have gifted me with all kinds of coffee and Coffee machines. Currently I am on my 5th coffee maker… pods, packets, K cups… I have bought all types of coffee and even tried flavored coffee but to no avail ….. I start out with great expectations … even the aroma is inviting but then the taste test leaves me so disappointed.
TODAY I HAVE DECIDED ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! I ask myself, “Why am I listening to everyone’s opinion of what good coffee is and how to make it?” Why has this become such a challenge? I can remember when I enjoyed coffee brewed at home….I also remember that wonderful cup of coffee was made with a Basic Coffee pot…
SO THE DECISION IS MADE!
I AM GOING BACK TO A BASIC COFFEE POT!!!
This coffee dilemma really got me thinking about Business Basics …….. I hear many business people talking about not getting the results they want from the effort they put into their business. They might call it a slump or that they feel stuck. They share it is only of late that they feel disappointed with their results: there was a time when they felt their business was productive.
I wonder if this could be a result of being bombarded with too many new Technics and Ideas. ….or from listening to too many ideas or suggestions from meaningful people? Almost ‘like a flavor of the month’!
”Try this it will be fun….”
Fun is good only if it is productive!
Just like my coffee experience maybe it is time to go
back to basics… back to skills and actions that work consistently!
I would suggest only to take advise from someone who has a formula for success that works… one that is timeless. If you are feeling disappointed with the outcome of your efforts as I was with my cup of coffee maybe it is time to go back to a basics … back to a simple approach for booking, selling and closing the sale.
NO SALES … NO MONEY
KNOW SALES …. KNOW MONEY!!!
Business Basics might look like this….
1. No Gimmicks needed…. Get back to learning, teaching and enacting basic sales training.
2. Practice the same procedure over and over until you are comfortable with it.
3. Learn a sales script and practice it until the words are comfortable and it sounds natural.
4. Observe someone who is successful with the Basic procedure…. Learn from them. Imitate their actions, then engage success as your own!
5. No need to keep changing your technique….Successful techniques are timeless.
6. Develop your skills … be teachable! Are you willing to inspect what you expect from yourself and your sales force? Are you willing to do yourself what you expect from them? The leader is the example, it starts with our own actions.
Willing to make the necessary changes to your business? Are you willing to work to learn how to get the outcomes you desire?

So relatable. I love coffee the same way you do but also enjoy my cream and sugar but always test for a great cup first on its plain true and basic qualities. I too just found the love of my old basic cup from home. Never thought about it like business. How nice. It is so true that we are often bombarded with new ideas and especially someone like myself those ideas swirling around with the ever immense ideas created in my mind just tend to overload my mind. Time to simplify and bring it back to basics.
