The count down is on ….only 21 days left in 2015!
Interestingly most people are thinking of just getting through the final weeks of this year so they can begin anew in the New Year. After all isn’t there a tradition of New Year’s resolutions?
Why is it that we become optimists when the clock strikes midnight on December 31st…celebrating hopes for a wonderful year ahead …looking forward to; better times, happiness, meaningful relationships, maybe a new career …a richer life in every way. I agree we need to be joyful with these expectations but to believe the date on a calendar is going to make the difference is a fool’s folly. It’s as though we just stop and hope that Jan.1st everything will magically adjust itself for better results in all areas of our life without personally making definite changes and plans.
I agree that at times we do need to give up but how and what we give up matters. My mentor taught me if something is working keep doing it but if it’s not leading you to the results you desire then change what you’re doing immediately!
Einstein said it this way, “If you keep doing the same thing and expect different results then that’s the definition of insanity.”
What if we look at giving up in a different way? How about this?
“I AM GIVING UP!!!
- I’m giving up watching TV 3 nights a week and doing something with purpose instead.
- I’m giving up PROCRASTINATING – its robbing me of my time. I know that what I have tomorrow depends on what I do today.
- I’m giving up making excuses. I am turning those excuses into reasons to succeed!
- I’m giving up listening to and hanging around negative, small thinking people – they only bring me down.
- I’m giving up blaming others for where I am in life. I am taking responsibility for my activity (or inactivity). I’m responsible for my own success!
- I’m giving up limited thinking. I know that success is found in my daily routine. I am setting goals and following an action plan.
Walk forward and capture your dreams.
Hope for the unobtainable.
Reach for the unbelievable.
Strive for the undeniable.
Become the impossible. – Leslie Neilson
Take time now to make a decision on where you will put your efforts for the next year. Base them on the results you want.
- Make sure your activity is congruent with your goals.
- Check your attitude
- Find someone to be accountable to.
